What is the history of magnetic therapy?

Magnetism is both leading-edge science and traditional therapy that has been used by the Chinese for 5,000 years. Since then, many cultures have tried magnets with varying results. It is said that Cleopatra had a lode stone (naturally occurring magnets) under her pillow to sleep on at night. Although biomagnetism is an area of study which dates back 5,000 years throughout many cultures, it has progressed most rapidly since the separate effects of the positive and negative magnetic fields on biological systems were discovered in the 1930’s by Albert Roy Davis.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) states “Static magnets have been used for centuries in efforts to relieve pain. How quickly can magnetic therapy work?

Every individual body will respond differently to magnetic therapy. In general, most people report rapid results however it will depend on the type and severity of your condition. Results will vary.

For acute injuries, most people start to feel more comfortable in a day or two. Many have even reported a reduction of pain within hours or minutes after correctly applying magnetic therapy. The majority of people report full comfort within three to four days with issues like back pain. All magnets have two fields; the negative polarity (-) and positive polarity (+). The negative pole will assist with naturally energizing which allows the body to normalize and heal itself of many specific conditions. There are some techniques which use the positive polarity; however these are used occasionally and only for very specific therapies.

In science, negative (geological North) magnets are always marked with the negative symbol (-) and are green in color. Positive (geological South) is always marked with the positive symbol (+) and red in color. Always place the negative (-) green side of the magnet towards the skin at the pain location as shown in the diagrams which accompany your kit. I have used magnetic therapy but I have not seen any results. What should I do?

3- Did you leave the magnets in place for the recommended length of time?

Are surgical pins or plates affected by the magnets used in magnetic therapy?

No, surgical pins or plates in your body are made of non-magnetic metals (such as surgical stainless steel and titanium) so they will not be effected by magnetic therapy. How does the energy assist in healing?

When the cells are traumatized at an injury site of the body, they lose their healthy Negative Zeta energy potential. Your brain is then signaled to send Negative energy to the location. What does the Gauss rating of a magnet mean?

Many magnetic therapy companies make all kinds of claims about the Gauss rating of their product, but you might not understand exactly what that is. The power of a magnet was only measured in units of Gauss (pronounced “gows”) before the new advanced rare earth powered magnetic technology behind our certified magnets was introduced.

Gauss is a unit of measurement which defines how many lines of magnetic force (flux density) per square centimeter are emitted from the surface of the magnet. However, the new language of Gauss is now being determined by the amount of energy inside the magnet; this describes the amount of energy it takes to neutralize the magnet. Today, with the power breakthrough in the certified rare earth neodymium magnetic energy wafers that Relief Organics’ offers, more Gauss does not mean more strength.

There are two components of magnetic strength. The first is the internal field strength which is the amount of power it takes to remove the magnetism from a magnet (the br coercive force). The second is the actual, useful power of the magnet at the surface. Unfortunately, many magnet manufacturers do not understand the difference between the two. As a result, the surface power of many other magnets on the market is often much less than the figure given by the manufacturer. And that is the useful power of the magnet!

Does the Gauss rating indicate the effectiveness of a magnet?

No, it does not. Although many size magnets are made of the same material with the same Gauss rating, it does not mean they will have the same energy and penetration values. The thickness of the magnet actually determines the power and depth of the energy penetration into the tissue. A small magnet will have a much smaller penetration value, while the larger and thicker the magnet, the more powerful it is. The larger magnets work best on deep tissue therapies.

What is Pulsed Magnetic Therapy?

There are many electromagnetic appliances that emit a pulsed field to stimulate tissue with some positive results. Are there any warnings about using Magnetic Therapy?

If you are using a pacemaker or defibrillator, do NOT place a certified magnet over your heart or within 10 inches of your device, as this will cause serious damage.

Magnetic Therapy is NOT advised for pregnant women because there have been no conclusive studies.

The certified magnets are VERY powerful. Be careful not to pinch your skin! It is safest to slide them apart and put together carefully. Do NOT allow children to play with them.

Warning: There are bi-polar and multi-polar pads on the market that are sold for pain relief. Can magnetic therapy be used during pregnancy?

While magnet therapy is completely safe if applied properly, Relief Organics does not advise using during pregnancy because as of now there have been no conclusive studies.

Does Relief Organics recommend magnetic foot pad inserts/soles? How about magnetic beds and mattress pads?

Magnetic Foot Pad Inserts: Our research indicates that the foot pads (both mono and bi-polar) may initially have a good response, only a few days later, some subtle, detrimental changes can occur in the body. The science of Shiatsu, Reflexology and Kinesiology, explains that the feet have sensitive pressure points that when stimulated can help balance glands and organs all over the body. Since all magnetic foot pads have specific magnetic fields under these pressure points, its relative gland, organ, or function in the body is going to be stimulated by either the positive or negative field of the magnet. For example, the pacemaker of an individual was adversely affected by the foot pads he was wearing. (Because of this, we do NOT recommend using magnets on the bottom of your feet if you have a pacemaker/defibrillator.)

Relief Organics does not recommend wearing magnetic foot pad inserts/insoles or at best, for not longer than 3 days, so body functions are not sped up or slowed down. This will affect your vitality in an incorrect manner and could be detrimental to your health. Magnetic Beds or Mattress Pads: Magnetic beds or mattress pads should be used with caution and we do not recommend buying multi-polar beds. There are many companies that sell these pads without explaining that a magnetic system can remedy Magnetic Deficiency Syndrome (MDS). However, after the MDS is alleviated and the body is restored to a high energy level, the magnetic field becomes too strong and can create a hyper or hypo glandular/organ condition. This will result in an overall drop in the body’s energy level if the pad is used for long periods of time. This is illustrated by the fact that individuals using the bed pads for a long period of time indicated a consistent bit of lethargy during the day, despite the fact that they initially did sleep well and woke up feeling rested. Advanced biomagnetic practitioners do prescribe negative field pads for 3-6 weeks at a time for seriously ill persons and then 20-30 minutes a day to maintain the proper magnetic field. They do not however, recommend it for long periods of time. Relief Organics recommends caution and strongly urges against the use of any bi-polar pads. They introduce the positive magnetic field into the body, which over a short period of time can cause stress, weaken the body, and could lead to disease. Since there are some useful applications with magnetic bed pads, we would only recommend certain ones that do not have magnetic fields directly under the adrenal glands.

Are the magnetic fields from power lines and household appliances dangerous to my health?

The electromagnetic fields surrounding power lines and electrical appliances have an alternating current electricity. This is where very powerful Positive and Negative fields alternate back and forth sixty times per second in North America (and fifty times per second in most other areas of the world.) There are many investigations which prove that AC fields from power lines and appliances have disturbing biological properties that can negatively affect your health if you are within their field.

For example, in Sweden, it is illegal to have any commercial working atmosphere that has 2 or more milliGauss (one thousandth of one Gauss) of AC current. This is due to the fact that Swedish science has established that 2 or more milliGauss can cause cancer. To put this in perspective, appliance, tube type computer screens and overhead electric lines can give over 40 to +100 milliGauss.

We suggest following the 1 meter rule. Keep computer screens, plug in radios, clocks, and any other electronic equipment 1 meter (about 3 feet) away from any area you spend a lot of time in, especially your bed!
